LINC Legislative Listening Sessions

Words by

At CCYJ, we believe that collaboration is key to transforming how communities respond to youth violence. LINC (Leadership Intervention and Change) is a leadership body that unites community leaders, schools, law enforcement, and juvenile justice partners around a shared mission: to reduce youth violence and support young people entangled in the criminal legal system.

Rather than working in silos, LINC brings together diverse voices and expertise to implement the Comprehensive Gang Model—a coordinated, community-driven approach that addresses the root causes of group, gang, and gun violence. The LINC Steering Committee plays a central role in this effort, overseeing implementation and guiding strategic planning to ensure that youth and families receive the support they need.

Collaboration That Drives Change

At the core of LINC’s work is the belief that lasting change happens when systems work together. By aligning efforts across sectors, LINC is able to:

  • Break down barriers that prevent youth from accessing services.
  • Advocate for legislative and policy reforms that reflect the realities young people face.
  • Create a unified strategy for prevention, intervention, and long-term support.

This collaborative model doesn’t just improve outcomes—it builds trust, accountability, and shared responsibility across the community.

Informing Policy Through Partnership

LINC is hosting multiple sessions this fall designed to equip legislators with clear, consolidated information about:

  1. Existing services and supports for youth impacted by violence in King County.
  2. Ongoing legislative and policy barriers—both local and state—that hinder progress and perpetuate harm.

These sessions are a critical opportunity for policymakers to hear directly from those working on the ground and to understand how we all can shape more effective, equitable solutions.

A United Vision for Youth

LINC is creating a future where every young person has the opportunity to thrive—free from violence, supported by their community, and empowered to reach their full potential.
